Jess Stone wins women's 661 Mini Downhill

The 661 Mini Downhill returned to a very cold and frosty Forest of Dean for first of three races to be held there over the next three months. A full field of riders turned out with the youngest 10 year olds starting the racing off in the cold conditions with lots of cheers of encouragement from their parents and groups of spectators it made for a great start to the day. By 3.30pm all the racing was over and all the great prizes were handed out on the podiums just has it started to go dark. 661 Mini Downhill 2010 National Champion Jess Stone (Trek Gravity Girls) won the women's race with a time of 1.16 in her first ever mini downhill race, Ellie Maxfield (Wideopen Magazine) returning from a broken leg finished in second place six seconds off the pace while Lianne Bartleman was third. To be honest I think the story of the day was Emyr Davies! 3rd in the pro-am category on his hardtail while everyone else was on full DH rigs! Well done Ems!
